AL Johnson Promoting Student Success

Recently, the Rural Schools Collaborative Team, along with GRAD Partnership Intermediaries from the University of West Alabama (UWA), and North State Together (NST) had the opportunity to meet the School Resource Team (SRT) at Amelia Love Johnson High School (AL Johnson) in Thomaston, AL to learn more about their work promoting student success.

Marengo County is the only Black Belt system to earn more than a C on latest statewide report card

The report card, which was posted to the Alabama State Department of Education website on Dec. 14, gives school systems an overall grade and numerical scores in the areas of academic achievement; student improvement in reading, English and math; career or college readiness; graduation rate; and the percentage of students who miss 18 or more days of school (chronic absenteeism).
